Is there a limit on the length of an author's name? If so, is there a work-around

See this author http://www.librarything.com/author/ameri...
which seems to be all the authors that start with "American Federation of"

The limit is 20 characters I believe. The work-around is to split the author, as has been done to some extent, and to put the real names for each split in the disambiguation notice. Unfortunately, the notice appears at the bottom of the page instead of the top.

Tim is planning to fix this with a total rewrite of the way authors are represented in the system. Unfortunately, such a rewrite is going to take a long time.
